Monday morning fireball was a comet fragment burning up in Earth s atmosphere

Date Time Monday morning fireball was a comet fragment burning up in Earth’s atmosphere Western Canadians caught a glimpse of a bright flash overhead this week as a fireball lit up the sky on Monday morning. Now, University of Alberta researchers have used Western Canada’s most advanced fireball network to capture images and trajectory of the fireball revealing it to be a small piece of a comet that burned up in the atmosphere. “Using two observation sites, we were able to calculate both its trajectory and velocity, which tell us about the origin of the meteor and reveal that it was a piece of a comet,” said Patrick Hill, post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. “This chunk was largely made of dust and ice, burning up immediately without leaving anything to find on the ground but instead giving us a spectacular flash.”

VivoPower signs battery technology partnership with Tottenham Hotspur FC

VivoPower has been announced as the official battery technology partner for football club Tottenham Hotspur. The first-of-its-kind partnership  will see the battery company review Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium and training centre, allowing it to develop storage solutions that will help the club become a net zero carbon business. Currently, it is envisaged that this will include VivoPower supplying a 3MW, large, solid state battery at the stadium in London to help it balance its power supply. At the club’s training centre, a full-suite of sustainable energy solutions (SES) will likely be rolled out, the company said, including rooftop solar panels, battery storage, custom microgrid controls and electrical infrastructure.

Belgium becomes a GW solar market

Belgium becomes a GW solar market The central European country had its best year in terms of new PV deployment in 2020 with around 1,010 MW of installed capacity. Its cumulative solar capacity surpassed 6 GW at the end of December. From pv magazine France Belgium crossed for the first time the 1 GW threshold in terms of new PV deployment last year, according to new figures released by the Belgian trade body Promotion des Energies Renouvelables (APERe). In 2020, PV systems with a combined capacity of 1,010 MW were installed in the country, of which 800 MW in the Dutch-speaking macro-region of Flanders, 150 MW in the French-speaking .

Mini perovskite solar module with 18% efficiency from CEA-INES

Mini perovskite solar module with 18% efficiency from CEA-INES The mini panel has a surface of 10 cm². It was built with a manufacturing technique that is claimed to be compatible with the integration of perovskite into heterojunction silicon solar cells in tandem architecture.Researchers at France s National Solar Energy Institute (INES) - an arm of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) - have fabricated an 18%-efficient mini perovskite solar module with a surface of 10 cm². The panel was developed with a special perovskite material that is also known as CsxFA1-xPb(I1-yBry)3). The material has no methylammonium and includes .
